FC Augsburg Signs Samuel Essende to Replace Ermedin Demirovic

As expected, FC Augsburg has signed Samuel Essende. The 26-year-old striker comes from Portugal – and is expected to cushion the impending departure of Ermedin Demirovic.

The international player of the Democratic Republic of Congo (international debut in early June) was trained in the youth department of Paris St. Germain. After stints in Belgium and the second French league, Essende moved to FC Vizela last summer.

15 Tore in Portugal

The 1.92 meter tall center forward scored 15 goals, making him the fourth best goalscorer in Portugal’s first division, but he was unable to prevent Vizela from being relegated. Now he is moving to the Bundesliga with FC Augsburg, where the 26-year-old has signed a four-year contract until summer 2028.

“Samuel is an athletic striker who will make our offensive game more variable with his speed and dynamic style of play,” sports director Marko Jurendic is quoted as saying in a club statement. “He has developed steadily over the past few years to the point of being a national player. At FCA he will take the next step in a top-5 league.”

Demirovic arouses desire

By signing Ermedin Demirovic, the Fuggerstadt team is preparing for a possible departure. The captain scored 15 goals last season and also provided ten assists, which is likely to have aroused interest – especially in other European countries.

There is still nothing concrete about this personnel, but given the otherwise mixed results of the other strikers Phillip Tietz (eight goals), Sven Michel (two goals) and Dion Beljo (two goals), the FCA would be well advised to have a new attacker.
