FC Bayern extends contract with defender Stanisic

FC Bayern has signed defender Josip Stanisic for the long term. As the German record champions announced on Thursday, the 24-year-old will receive a contract until June 30, 2029.

Last season, the Munich native was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen, where he won the German championship and cup with the Werkself. Stanisic and Croatia were eliminated in the preliminary round of the European Championship this week.

“I am grateful to Leverkusen because I learned a lot there – in football and off the pitch,” said Stanisic, who formulated his future goals in Munich as follows: “To give everything for FC Bayern and to win as many titles as possible. It’s nice to be back in my home country.”

“Stani knows what matters at FC Bayern”

Stanisic moved from SC Fürstenfeldbruck to FC Bayern’s U17 juniors in January 2017. He made the jump from the junior teams and the FCB amateurs to the professionals, for whom he has so far played in 41 competitive matches and scored one goal.
