FC Bayern Eyeing Transfer Moves for Premier League Defenders for 2024/25 Season

There are still countless question marks about FC Bayern’s squad for the 2024/25 season. Some of them concern the defense, which may be restructured in several positions. In keeping with this, there is a rumor circulating in England that the Munich team is currently trying to sign a defender from Liverpool FC.

The center of defense caused FC Bayern several headaches last season. Sometimes because of injuries, but much more often because of fluctuating performances, which were particularly evident from Dayot Upamecano and Min-jae Kim. Personnel changes in the middle of the back four are therefore still to be expected.

The English tabloid newspaper “Mirror” is now fuelling the transfer rumors surrounding FC Bayern and claims that Vincent Kompany wants to bring a professional from FC Liverpool to the record champions in the summer. The player in question is therefore the English European Championship participant Joe Gomez.

Will FC Bayern fail at FC Liverpool?

Gomez’s advantage: The 27-year-old is very versatile and can play not only in the centre of defence, but also on the wings or in defensive midfield. This versatility earned him an impressive 51 competitive appearances in Klopp’s last season and also a ticket to the European Championship with the English national team.

The catch: According to the “Mirror”, Liverpool FC is not even considering selling Gomez in the summer. The defender, whose contract runs until the summer of 2027, is considered a central building block of the team under new coach Arne Slot, it is said.

Because that is the case, the Munich team is reportedly targeting another player from the island. The name given here is 21-year-old Levi Colwill from Chelsea FC. The problem remains, however: Chelsea FC also does not want to let go of the player under any circumstances and is firmly planning to keep him. In addition, Colwill’s contract runs until the summer of 2029.
