FC Bayern is strengthening its squad for the coming season with the signing of winger Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. This move could have far-reaching consequences for the Munich team’s existing offensive players.
Munich – According to consistent media reports, FC Bayern will activate the release clause of 22-year-old Frenchman Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. The transfer fee is estimated at 53 million euros plus six million euros in possible bonus payments. This would put Olise in the top 5 of the record champions’ most expensive transfers.

Olise’s arrival would increase competition within the team, especially for Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman, who were not consistently convincing last season. The lightning-fast Frenchman could also put Leroy Sané under considerable pressure. Both have their preferred position on the right wing, but they can also play on the left wing. Sané struggled with a persistent pubic bone inflammation in the final phase of last season and is currently only making brief appearances for the national team during the European Championships at home.
Difficult market for Gnabry & Coman
While Kingsley Coman’s contract runs until 2027, Gnabry is still tied to Munich until 2026. Leroy Sané’s contract even expires in the summer of 2025. Talks about a contract extension with Sané are said to be well advanced, and a decision is expected after the European Championship. Recently, there were many indications that his contract would be extended. Munich could imagine selling Coman and Gnabry. However, demand could be rather low due to their high salaries at the German record champions and their susceptibility to injury.
