FC Dallas Goalkeeper Maarten Paes Supports Ernando Ari After Blunder in World Cup Qualification Match

JAKARTA – Maarten Paes, FC Dallas goalkeeper, provides support to Ernando Ari after the Indonesia vs Iraq national team match in the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

Paes sent a message via direct message (DM) to Ernando Ari to encourage him after Ernando made a blunder which resulted in Iraq’s winning goal.

“Keep going my friend! (Keep going mate),” said Maarten Paes to Ernando Ari.

Ernando Ari also responded briefly to Maarten Paes’ message of support.

It is known that Ernando Ari made a fatal blunder when the Indonesian National Team faced Iraq in the 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Zone on Thursday 6 June 2024 at the GBK Main Stadium.

The blunder occurred in the 87th minute, when Ernando Ari received a backpass from Asnawi Mangkualam. Ernando Ari, who was under pressure from the Iraqi players, panicked and tried to control the ball with his feet. However, the ball was snatched by an Iraqi player, Ali Jassim, who easily put the ball into an empty net.

This blunder had fatal consequences for the Indonesian National Team, because it was the decisive goal for Iraq’s victory in that match. The Indonesian national team also had to recognize Iraq’s superiority with a score of 0-2.
