17th player in the world this week and opposed to Thanasi Kokkinakis in the first round of Wimbledon, Félix Auger‐Aliassime gave an interview to our colleagues at Tennis365 before his debut at the London Grand Slam.
An interview during which the Canadian was asked to choose the player he preferred between Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
“All three of them are amazing in their own way and as to who is more difficult to play against, it depends on the surface and several other factors. Roger was the one who could take you out in an hour without feeling like you made too many mistakes. Then you look at Rafa on clay and that’s the biggest challenge in our sport. I also like his mentality. Everyone can aspire to this kind of mentality. We are lucky to have had these three great champions in our sport, but for me, I love Roger. He is pure class, an extraordinary man. On and off the field. Off the court, I had the opportunity to speak with him and he was very nice to me. Then, when he met my family, he showed that he was a sincere man. He goes up to my girlfriend, says hello, and he seems to remember everyone. He’s a man of class. »
