FIBA Organizes Intensive Basketball Training in Nouakchott, Mauritania for Coaches and Young Talents

Nouakchott, the Mauritanian capital vibrated to the rhythm of basketball with the holding of intensive training organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in collaboration with the Mauritanian basketball federation. This training is intended for coaches, the detection of young talents and support in their development.

Around thirty hand-picked coaches and supervisors have benefited from in-depth theoretical training, followed by practical workshops, on the fundamentals of coaching, game strategy, but also on detection and development techniques. young talents.

Fall Youssoufpresident of the Basketball Federation thanked FIBA ​​for this initiative and recalled that “this training, which is part of the national basketball development strategy, joins axis 3 relating to strengthening the capacities of young talents”. He went on to argue that “ the Mauritanian basketball federation is committed to capitalizing on this momentum to develop adequate tools to support young talents”

Alongside the training of coaches, a session to detect, analyze and develop the abilities of young talents was conducted. Thus, 21 young girls and 17 young boys benefited from technical support during this training session. The sessions highlighted promising players with clear potential to join development programs both nationally and internationally.

Technical workshops punctuated by practical cases and role-playing allowed coaches to evaluate their theoretical knowledge. FIBA had already organized in November 2022 in Nouakchott, a mini basketball camp for 400 children under 12 years old, from different regions of the country, a camp which earned the Mauritanian Basketball Federation an award from FIBA during its last congress in the Philippines and in the presence of 212 federations.

Remember that this training of coaches and young talents is part of the strategy to revitalize the practice of basketball initiated by the Mauritanian basketball federation.
