Final standings in Group E for the 2024 European Cup: Romania first, Belgium second

The 2024 European Cup Group E matchday is over. Romania surprisingly won the group followed by Belgium in second place.

All teams in the group, including Ukraine and Slovakia, have three points from two matches. As a result, they have the same chance of qualifying for the round of 16.

On Wednesday (27/6/2024) evening WIB, Ukraine faces Belgium at the Stuttgart Arena, while Slovakia meets Romania at The Waldstadion.

Both wanting to win, the four of them played persistently from the early minutes. After 90 minutes of the match, there were only goals in the Slovakia vs Romania match which finished 1-1.

Ondrej Duda’s goal in the 24th minute was answered by Razvan Marin’s penalty in the 36th minute. Meanwhile Ukraine vs Belgium finished goalless.

With this result, all teams finished with four points and this is the first time Euro 2024 has taken place. Romania has the right to be the group winner, having better goal productivity than Belgium, namely scoring four goals compared to two goals.

The top two teams have a goal difference of +1, while Slovakia is in third place with a goal difference of zero and Ukraine is bottom with a goal difference of minus two.

Romania finished top of their group for the first time at a European Championship and will meet one of the best third-placed teams, Belgium, in the Round of 16 against France.
