Finding the Right Martial Art: Is Judo or Hapkido the Right Choice?

Hello, I have a few questions about Judo and/or Hapkido. First of all, I would like to say that I am a person who would love to fight with swords, other cutting and stabbing weapons, as well as without weapons, and I have never had the opportunity to do so in my life. Almost a year ago, I started Taekwondo, which I was extremely disappointed with because I hoped we would learn to fight. We have never fought against each other, and I already have a yellow belt. I don’t enjoy it and it doesn’t do anything for me.

Now I have the opportunity to start with Hapkido or Judo (although that is unfortunate because the next option is 40km away)

What is Judo or Hapkido like? I know both by name but I don’t know what you learn there.

Do you fight against each other? (I mean until one of you is on the ground and doesn’t take turns kicking each other in the air and doesn’t touch each other and then calls it fighting like in TKD)

Is what you learn useful if you are attacked by someone who is stronger and wants to kill you? (not that that would ever be the case, I just don’t want to learn something that is completely useless like TKD)

I don’t care about the color of my belt either. I mean, if someone attacks me, it doesn’t matter whether the piece of fabric is green or black.

I don’t care whether the techniques look cool, they just have to be useful and effective.

I would enjoy a martial art (if you can call it that) where you fight against each other with very effective techniques and not in a posed situation, where you apply what you have learned and improve along the way, and with experience you also have a chance in a really serious fight. If possible, it would be good if we didn’t constantly hear from the same old guy: “A Taekwondo fighter is at his best when he doesn’t have to fight” or “you become a better person through…” or other such nonsense. It would also be good to do something where you don’t do such painful stretching exercises and contortions.

And what about Hapkido, do you fight with sticks? I mean, if you did that, I would go there for 10 hours every day.

In your opinion, would Judo or Hapkido be suitable for me in this case? Don’t take it the wrong way that I’m ranting about Taekwondo, but I was really disappointed with this “martial art” and that’s nothing against people who like TKD. Thanks in advance for your answers and for reading this text, best regards, exiltue
