Five ÖSB athletes were able to qualify for a start at the Olympic Games in France in the Olympic qualification phase. The nomination proposal of the ÖSB Presidium was sent directly to the Austrian Olympic Committee on Thursday, which will make the final nomination decision.

With the conclusion of the Munich World Cup, the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) officially ended the allocation of quota places for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The ÖSB team was able to achieve two Olympic quota places through qualifying competitions: Martin Strempfl (air rifle) took the first at the 2023 European Games in Poland, Alexander Schmirl the second (small bore three-position rifle) together with his world championship title at the 2023 World Championships in Baku.
With consistently good performances throughout the entire qualification period, three other ÖSB athletes managed to secure quota places via the international Olympic qualification ranking – most notably Sylvia Steiner, who is among the world’s best in both the air pistol and the 25m pistol. Tyroleans Andreas Thum and Nadine Ungerank also managed to qualify with the small-bore rifle.
