Fluminense Suffers First Defeat in Carioca Championship Against Boavista

Fluminense suffered, this Saturday (29), its first defeat in the Campeonato Carioca. The Moleques de Xerém lost 1-0 against Boavista, at the Vale das Laranjeiras Stadium, in Xerém. With the result, the club remains with seven points and remains in the qualifying zone for the quarterfinals of the championship.

The first stage was balancing in Xerém. Despite creating good opportunities, one with Esquerdinha and another with Ítalo Vinícius, Fluminense was unable to beat the visiting team’s goalkeeper, who performed excellently and prevented the score from coming to zero. Enzo was another one to force the archer to work, while Esquerdinha himself took paint from the left post with a powerful free kick.

In the second half, Flu continued to take other risks and increased the pace. Isac Martins, face to face, stopped at the goalkeeper, as did Gorgulho, with a header. Enzo also tried and exploded his rival’s right net. Although he controlled the game, Flu followed the ball and was reluctant to enter. In the 39th minute, in a counterattack, the visitors opened the scoring and won the match.

The team led by coach Rômulo Rodriguez returns to the field this Tuesday (02/07), when they face Ceará, at 3 pm, again at the Vale das Laranjeiras Stadium, in Xerém, for the 12th round of the Brasileirão.
