Football: Images of Atlanta striker Jamal Thiaré’s mischievous goal in MLS

What mischief! This Saturday, Senegalese striker Jamal Thiaré used all his trickery to score against Toronto. In added time of the MLS match between his team Atlanta and Toronto, he hid while going to drink water before emerging to snatch the victory (90th + 7, 2-1).

With Toronto goalkeeper Luka Gravan holding the ball, Thiare slipped behind him and first drank some water. Then, when the goalkeeper put the ball down to play it again, the forward snuck in front of him to steal it. He then finished by scoring into the empty net.

This goal is far from trivial, since thanks to its success, Atlanta now has as many points as Toronto in the Eastern Conference standings, but with one game less. The two teams currently occupy the play-off places for the final phase.

The MLS Eastern Conference is currently dominated by Inter Miami, Lionel Messi’s club. Even though the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is currently playing in the Copa America and is not playing with his club. Argentina has also won all three of its group games, even though Lionel Messi missed the last one due to adductor discomfort.
