FIFA continues to invest in the world of virtual games. After years of investing in the World Cup of the video game franchise, which bears the same name as the federation, the entity announced the Football Manager World Cupfamous football team management simulator.
The FM world tournament, as it is popularly known, will be organized by FIFAe (FIFA’s arm dedicated to electronic sports) together with Sports Interactive, publisher of the simulator game.

The first edition of the global competition is scheduled to take place between August 29 and September 1, 2024. The best Football Manager 2024 players will compete for $100,000 (around R$551.9 thousand) in cash prizes.
The announcement was made this Thursday (27), in a video featuring former Arsenal coach Arsène Wenger, who will be the event’s ambassador. The former coach is also FIFA’s Head of Global Football Development.
“This competition requires participants to demonstrate a deep understanding of football strategy and tactics. Success requires not only mastery of the mechanics of the game but also an in-depth knowledge of football, making this format a fascinating mix,” Wenger said.
Partnership with FIFAe further enhances the e-sports scene around the world, including in Brazil, which has regular Football Manager players.
Rocket League also joins FIFAe
Last Sunday (23), FIFAe also announced a partnership with Rocket League, in which 16 nations from around the world will compete for the title of world champions.
