Football transfer ticker: Bayern part ways with Broich

Dritliga club 1. FC Saarbrücken has the Bundesliga-experienced midfielder Sebastian Vasiliadis signed a contract. The 26-year-old is moving from second division relegated team Hansa Rostock to the Saar, as FCS announced on Tuesday. The club did not provide any information on the contract duration or the transfer terms.

Vasiliadis has played 51 games in the Bundesliga and 96 games in the lower house in his career. “With Sebastian we get a versatile, technically skilled player for the center,” said Saarbrücken’s Sports Director Jürgen LugingerVasiliadis has also received inquiries from the 2nd Bundesliga, Luginger continued. “We are therefore very happy that we were able to convince him of our concept.”

Meanwhile, the FCS extends the contract with attacker Sebastian Jacob Not for now. “It is a decision that was very difficult for us. Sebastian was a face of our team for years. But from today’s perspective it is not possible to predict if and when he will be able to meet the demands of professional football again,” explained Luginger.

Jacob injured his cruciate ligament in autumn 2022 and summer 2023 and is currently in the recovery phase. He was offered the opportunity to continue to take part in training as normal, said Luginger. “This gives us the opportunity to observe his further development. It is important for him to get completely healthy again first. If that is the case, we will talk about whether he would like to take a different approach or whether we should integrate him back into the squad.” (dpa)
