Formosan Evita Games: A New Tradition Begins in Formosa

On the afternoon of this Friday 28th, coinciding with the 69th anniversary of the Provincialization of Formosa, the official launch of the first edition of the Formosan Evita Games took place.

The ceremony was held at the Centenario Stadium in the city of Formosa, bringing together hundreds of young people and adults, both from the interior and the Capital, who will soon be involved in the different competing disciplines.

It is worth remembering that, in response to the national government’s decision not to hold the historic Evita National Games, Governor Gildo Insfrán announced on June 1, during the opening of the women’s soccer Friendship Tournament in Pozo del Tigre, the creation of this Formosa edition.

The launch was led by the Secretary of Sports and Community Recreation, Mario Romay; the Minister of Government, Justice, Security and Labor, Jorge González; and the Ministers of Tourism Silvia Segovia and of the Community, Gloria Giménez.

National senators and deputies, provincial legislators, mayors and sports delegations from all over the province also attended.

At the beginning, the resolution of the Ministry of Culture and Education declaring the event to be of cultural and educational interest was read, as well as that of the Honorable Provincial Legislature, which declared it to be of legislative interest.

Then, they presented the National and Provincial flags along with the Sports flag, to sing the Argentine National Anthems and the March to Formosa, under the strains of the music band of the Provincial Police.

For her part, Mariana Mobilio from Formosa, provincial and national Judo champion of the 2023 edition, when speaking, shared her experience in the sport with everyone present and was “proud to be able to participate in this edition.” .

Likewise, he pointed out that “every time he competes he wears the shirt of his club, province and country, to leave it flying at the top.”

He maintained that “I was lucky enough to attend the Evita National Games and in the last edition (2023) get the gold medal” and highlighted that “in that unforgettable final I had the support of the entire Formosa delegation.”

In this framework, he thanked the Government of Formosa “for implementing programs that include all children and young people, where we have the same possibilities and experiences, beyond sports results or whether one belongs to conventional sports or adapted for people with disabilities. ”.

Next, María Casiano, a student at the Gimnasio Terapéutico and participant in the National Evita Games in the disciplines for seniors, lamented that “due to a national political decision, we will not have the Evita Games this year.”

But, he noted: “Thanks to the Governor, we will have our own games.”

For this reason, he stressed that “the Sports Department is always with us adults and has never abandoned us,” and urged “everyone to come and practice sports, because it is good for age and makes us feel younger than before,” he concluded.

The competition bodies will be municipal, zonal – departmental and provincial. The categories are Sub16, Sub18 and seniors.

Sports schedule

Finally, the Director of Sports, Luis Ortellado, made the official presentation of the schedule and modality of conventional and adapted competition, with their respective divisions into categories and disciplines.

He pointed out that the competition stages will be municipal, zonal-departmental (where the winners of the municipalities will compete) and the provincial final (with the winners of the zonal stages).

In addition, he specified that after this launch, the registration stage begins from Monday, July 1 to the 12th; The local stage will then begin from August 29 to 2; the departmental finals from the 5th to the 23rd and the provincial finals from August 22nd.

He explained that there will be a Sub 16 category, for young people aged 14, 15 and 16, born in the years 2010, 2009 and 2008; Sub 18 for those who are 16, 17 and 18 years old, born in 2006, 2007 and 2008; and older adults.

Regarding the disciplines, both female and male, there will be for Under 16 athletics, hockey 7, volleyball, basketball, paddle tennis, rugby, futsal, judo, taekwondo, boxing, cycling, badminton, rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, Olympic lifting, tennis, tennis table tennis, shooting, archery, beach volleyball, beach handball, swimming, triathlon and canoeing. Meanwhile, in the urban category, they will compete in fencing, freestyle, BMX Freestyle and skateboarding.

While the U18 youth will participate in athletics, 5×5 basketball, field soccer, handball and volleyball; and adapted athletics, goalball, adapted table tennis and sitting volleyball.

Requirements

Ortellado explained that the documentation required for each athlete will be the new DNI, federal police ID or passport, certificate of document in process with birth certificate and updated photograph (sealed and endorsed by municipal authority).

He also requested an Evita 2024 medical record or a certificate of physical fitness or a school health booklet and clarified that “participation in all competition stages of any athlete without the aforementioned documentation, amendments or with a deterioration such that it prevents the identity of the person who possesses it from being demonstrated will not be authorized, with the Sports Coordination having the authority to proceed and decide on this matter.”
