Three days of sport with a view to the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. From Friday 28 to Sunday 30 June the Frassinoro Summer Biathlon Festival returns, an event of great appeal that will bring the Italian champion Dorothea Wierer (godmother of the event) and other world champions to the Modena Apennines. Not only that, the Frassinoro Summer Biathlon Festival will also coincide with one of the first official outings of Tina & Milo, the two mascots of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, also among the protagonists of the weekend in the Apennines.
Over 20 athletes, both men and women, will participate in the sporting event, and in addition to Italy, five other nations will be represented. The Frassinoro Summer Biathlon Festival is part of “Italia dei Giochi”, a program that aims to bring the Olympic spirit to the people and increase the sounding board for the next Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Milan Cortina 2026.
The program
We start on Friday 28th at 3pm with the “Walking with the champions” at the Boscoreale Cross-country ski centre. At 8pm in the square in Piandelagotti there will be the presentation of the athletes and the extraction of the race bibs. On Saturday 29th in the morning, from 9 am, the biathlon competition for promising young people will be held at the “Tonino Biondini” Integrated School/Sports Center in Frassinoro.
In the early afternoon, at 2pm, the highlight of the three days will be with the competition of champions and at 8pm the awards ceremony in the “Champions Park” tensile structure, followed by live music with Maryo DJ. Furthermore, on Saturday from 6pm, it will be possible to follow the round of 16 of the Italy-Switzerland European football championships on the big screen, set up inside the tensile structure to cheer on the Azzurri together with the biathlon champions.
The Frassinoro Summer Biathlon Festival will close on Sunday 30 June with the mountain bike rally at the Polo Integrato Scolastico/Sportivo “Tonino Biondini” starting at 8 am, organized by the Pifonchi association, open to cyclists of all levels. Lunch and departure of the delegations of athletes at 1 pm.
The race on Saturday afternoon will be broadcast live on “Sport2U”, with the voices of Eurosport by Dario Puppo, Massimiliano Ambesi and Francesco Paone. The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Frassinoro and the Province of Modena, and all the local associations have collaborated in its realization.
