Frédéric Jooris, badminton player, will represent Vendée at the European badminton championships. “I have been a badista for a long time. I had a very good regional level, with an N3 ranking, but it was in the veterans category that I was able to fully express myself and obtain very interesting results at the French and World championships. »
And it is indeed as veterans of the 5th category (age group of 55-60 years) that Frédéric, licensed at BCPH (Badminton club du Pays de Sainte-Hermine), will defend the colors of France but also of South Vendée during European badminton championships.
« This is not the first time that I will have the chance to confront the international elite of my favorite sport. After I turned 50, and after having climbed on the podium of the French championships several times (in 2015, 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024), each time in men’s singles, I qualified for the world championships in my category . My last performance took place in Gien, in 2023, during the French championships during which I won the bronze medal. »
Her goals ? “The big trip for the European Championship to the Flemish part of Belgium, to Heudsen-Zolder (not far from Maastricht). I will be accompanied by my wife Émeline (badista, also in Vendée). »
For the next season of 2024-2025, the meeting of the French championships is already set for the weekend of November 9 to 11 and it will be Nord Pas-de-Calais which will organize it in Baisieux.
One more challenge for Frédéric who, by then, will be one of the youngest among the V6s (60-65 years old). And he hopes to get on the podium once again to win his 6th qualification for the world championships, in 2025.
