French Archer Jean-Philippe Boulch Impresses at Antalya World Cup

Frenchman Jean-Philippe Boulch comes close to the final square during the individual compound event this Thursday in Antalya, Turkey. A course which allowed him to finish 5th in this last round of the season. For the other French representatives, the afternoon was a little shorter.

A defeat by the smallest of margins against the world No. 2 Mathias Fullerton which does not prevent Jean-Philippe Boulch to achieve his best result of the season with a 5th place in the individual event which adds to the bronze won the day before in the team event. This afternoon the Breton archer started with a victory 147 points to 143 against the Swede Stefan Hansson in the 1/32nd final. He then beat the Croatian Domagoj Buden 147 points to 146, then offered the Italian Elia Fregnan 148 points to 145.

In the quarter-final, the clash pitted the Frenchman against the qualifying leader, Mathias Fullerton. A high-level match against one of the new strong men of the world compound bow. The Dane scored 149 points, dropping a 9 on the last end of the match, against 148 for Jean-Philippe Boulch who fought until the end. A defeat which leaves the archer from Rueil Malmaison at the gates of the finals, but with an honorable 5th place.
