French Archers Barbelin, Lopez, and Chirault Selected for Paris Olympics

Lisa Barbelin and Caroline Lopez (Archers Riomois), as well as Thomas Chirault (Stade Clermontois) will compete in the Paris Games. Their selection for the French archery team was made official by the CNOSF.

Full house. Lisa Barbelin and Caroline Lopez (Archers Riomois), as well as Thomas Chirault (Stade Clermontois) are selected for the Olympic Games. The CNOSF executive board has in fact validated the list of athletes selected for the archery events at its last meeting.

The presence of the three Auvergne archers was hardly in doubt given their results over the past few months. The last veil of suspense has logically been lifted and the three Auvergne representatives are officially included in the selection for Paris 2024.

Lisa Barbelin, chef de file

The French women’s team will therefore be made up of Lisa Barbelin, already present at the Tokyo Games in 2021, and Caroline Lopez, both from Archers Riomois. Amélie Cordeau (Annemasse) completes the trio.

Aged 24, Lisa Barbelin will be the leader of this team. The Riomoise, silver medalist in August 2023 at the World Cup at Les Invalides, finished third at the European Championships in May.

Caroline Lopez, 21, Amélie Cordeau, 18, and Lisa Barbelin have also just won team gold at the European Championships in May, then silver at the World Cup in Antalya in June.

Second Games for Thomas Chirault

Among the men, Clermontois Thomas Chirault, 26, was selected with Nîmes Baptiste Addis and Jean-Charles Valladont. Thomas Chirault will also experience his second Olympics after those in Tokyo.

It’s a men’s team that knows each other well and is performing well.

France has just won the team title at the European Championships held in May in Essen (Germany). This team has also just distinguished itself during the last round of the World Cup in Antalya with a silver medal.
