The Blues are gaining momentum in Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic for the world ranking tournament. Guillaume Toucoullet will play for the Gold final in Open recurve. In Open compound arch, after qualifying yesterday for the team bronze final alongside Maxime Guérin, Thierry Joussaume continues his momentum and will compete in another bronze final, this time as an individual.

Leader of qualifying this Tuesday, the Compiégnois Guillaume Toucoullet confirmed this Thursday by qualifying for the final of the Open recurve individual event in Nove Mesto. A course punctuated by a victory 6 sets to 2 against Martin Chaloupsky (CZE) in 1/16th, then 6 sets to 0 against the Briton David Phillips and 6 sets to 2 against the Chinese Jun Gan. In the semi-final, the Frenchman had to dig deep within himself to snatch victory against the Indian Harvinder Singh. Trailing 4 sets to 0 after two ends, he managed to equalize 4 sets to 4 before a final tie which sent the two men into the play-off. A jump-off where the two opponents achieve a 9, it is however Guillaume Toucoullet who is closest to the center and reaches the final. He will face the Indonesian late Saturday afternoon Kholidin for the gold medal.

For its part, in Open compound arch, Thierry Joussaume confirms his current state of form. After European gold in Rome at the end of May, here he is again in the last four of an international competition. He first won 142 points to 140 in the 1/16th final against the Turk Kenan Babaogluthen snatches victory in a barrage in 1/8th against the Briton Nathan Macqueen. In 1/4, he gets rid of the Spaniard Fernando Gale Montorio on the smallest of margins, 142 points to 141. He then managed to increase his level of performance in the 1/2 final, but it was insufficient to defeat the Belgian Piotr Van Montagu who won 145 points to 144. The archer from the Chollet club will face the Indian late Saturday morning Rakesh Kumar for a place on the podium.
