French Archers Shine at World Ranking Tournament in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic

The Blues are gaining momentum in Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic for the world ranking tournament. Guillaume Toucoullet will play for the Gold final in Open recurve bow. In Open compound bow, after qualifying yesterday for the team bronze final alongside Maxime Guérin, Thierry Joussaume continues his momentum and will play another bronze final, this time individually.

Leader of the qualifications this Tuesday, the Compiègne native Guillaume Toucoullet confirmed this Thursday by qualifying for the final of the Open recurve individual event in Nove Mesto. A course punctuated by a 6-2 victory against Martin Chaloupsky (CZE) in 1/16th, then 6 sets to 0 against the Briton David Phillips and 6 sets to 2 against the Chinese Jun Gan. In the semi-final, the Frenchman had to dig deep within himself to snatch victory against the Indian Harvinder Singh. Led 4 sets to 0 after two ends, he manages to equalize 4 sets to 4 before a final ex-aequo end which sends the two men to a play-off. A play-off where both opponents achieve a 9, it is nevertheless Guillaume Toucoullet who is closest to the center and reaches the final. He will face the Indonesian on Saturday at the end of the afternoon Kholidin for the gold medal.

For its part, in Open compound arch, Thierry Joussaume confirms his current state of form. After European gold in Rome at the end of May, here he is again in the last four of an international competition. He first won 142 points to 140 in the 1/16th final against the Turk Kenan Babaogluthen snatches victory in a barrage in 1/8th against the Briton Nathan Macqueen. In 1/4, he gets rid of the Spaniard Fernando Galé Montorio by the smallest of margins, 142 points to 141. He then managed to raise his level of performance in the semi-final, but it was not enough to beat the Belgian Piotr Van Montagu who won 145 points to 144. The archer from the Chollet club will face the Indian on Saturday at the end of the morning Rakesh Kumar for a place on the podium.
