French Athletes Confirmed for Paris 2024 Olympics: Golfer Céline Boutier and Archer Jean-Charles Valladont Added to List

There are now 245 French athletes guaranteed to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On Friday, golfer Céline Boutier and archer Jean-Charles Valladont were added to the list. Cyclist Benjamin Thomas, meanwhile, will compete in the three endurance track events.

With less than a month to go until the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (July 26 to August 11), the list of athletes officially guaranteed to participate in the competition is growing by the day. This obviously applies first and foremost to the French delegation, which since Friday and the announcement of 39 new names has counted 245 selected for these first Olympic Games in the capital in a hundred years. Among the 39 new athletes whose ticket has been validated by the CNOSF, golf, archery and track cycling, which will take place on the Vélodrome in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines from August 5 to 11, are notably concerned.

Thus, Benjamin Thomas will unsurprisingly lead the French team. A real chance for a medal(s), the Cofidis team rider will compete in the three endurance events on the programme, namely the omnium, the American and the team pursuit. In this event, the five-time world champion will be supported by Thomas Boudat, Thomas Denis and Valentin Tabellion, while Oscar Nilsson will take on the role of substitute. Thomas, who won bronze in Tokyo alongside Donavan Grondin (not selected this time), will also take part in the American with Thomas Boudat.

Boutier and Valladont will also aim for medals

On the women’s side, Marion Borras, Clara Copponi, Valentine Fortin and Marie Le Net were selected, who will defend the French chances in the pursuit. Valentine Fortin will be competing in the omnium, while Clara Coponni and Marion Borras will compete in the American. Golfers are also set. Céline Boutier, who ended the year 2023 in 3rd place in the world rankings, is naturally part of this 16th list.

Our 30-year-old representative, who won four tournaments on the LPGA circuit last season, will certainly be one of the headliners of the French delegation on the national green in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. Jean-Charles Valladont will be one of our other potential medallists. The French archer, silver medallist in Rio in 2016, also officially knows (as do Anthony Jeanjean in BMX freestyle, Aurélien Giraud-Geneste in skateboarding or Sam Azevou and his sister Zelia in climbing) since Friday that he will be there.
