The year 2024 promises to be a good year for judokas Hector and Julian Vincent. Already crowned with the title of French champion in kata last March, the twins from Villeneuve-sur-Lot will try to win the world medal, on November 9 and 10, on the American tatamis in Las Vegas.

“We learned it this week,” explains Julian Vincent. The Judo Federation selected us to represent France during these championships. » A competition that the 21-year-old brothers already know, having twice finished in fifth place in the world. But this year, the objective is clear. “We are aiming for first place,” confirms Hector Vincent. This will be our last year in juniors, so if we have to win the title to have no regrets, it’s now. »

A kata of projections

The Vincent brothers, students in Staps in Bordeaux, are among the best hopes of judo kata. A discipline which is a succession of codified movements mimicking a fight. The martial choreography is performed in front of five judges who give a mark according to the performance of the couple.

Hector and Julian will present the “Nage No Kata” which is based on projections. One of the strengths of the Lot-et-Garonnais. “Generally, when I throw my brother, it hits the tatami very hard and we know that everyone is watching us and that we have succeeded,” describes Julian Vincent.
