Gabriel Labrot recently obtained his black belt. An outcome for the Trélissacois judoka.

He could have passed his UV (value units) last year already, but the young Trélissacois Gabriel Labrot, 15 years old (+ 90kg), waited. And a short week ago, he finally validated everything to obtain his black belt, which was awarded to him on Wednesday June 26 by his club. A deserved reward for the one who is one of the ten best French cadets (he is cadet 2).

France pole objective

A source of pride also for his mother Myriam: “The passage of grades in judo represents much more than a simple assessment of technical skills. It is a moment of deep emotion and pride for each judoka, because each belt obtained symbolizes hours of rigorous training, challenges overcome and significant personal progress.” It is also an achievement for this young boy who has been at the judo hope center in Limoges since September 2022.

This year, Gabriel Labrot also obtained good places and medals during national competitions, such as in Rochefort where he won gold at the Label B national cadet tournament, a bronze medal at the Bressuire national tournament and another at the national cadet tournament. excellence of Nantes. He continues to improve and aims to finish in the French Top 5 next season but also to join the France pole. [NDLR : il y en a huit dans l’Hexagone].

Work on your aggression

To do this, the young judoka will have to toughen up. “Gaby is very shy, it’s true, but it’s in judo that he flourishes. That’s the only thing that matters to him. He has training every day. Gaby is judo and friends in fact,” summarizes her mother Myriam. He works with Frédéric Marre, mental trainer, whose portrait we profiled last March. “He’s a little inside, introverted, so it’s to help him flourish and make his mark,” insists his mother. But Gabriel Labrot is not afraid of being on the tatami, he has some very good fights. By returning to the France pole, he will be able to improve further while continuing to work on his aggressiveness.

And beyond judo, Gabriel Labrot would like to turn to the police profession, “as there is a policy for high-level athletes”, specifies his mother.
