Georges-Clémenceau School Celebrates American Sports Theme in End-of-Year Celebration

Students at Georges-Clémenceau School got excited about the theme of American sports to celebrate the end of the school year. The facilitators offered the children an introduction to baseball, basketball, dodgeball, football and wrestling.

The Clémenceau Tigers cheerleaders waved their pompoms frantically to encourage their team during the big final show. “In this Olympic year, the youth education service is raising students’ awareness of sports and traditions from other continents,” explains Hervé Bouffinier, municipal councilor for extracurricular activities.

A tribute was paid, to the sound of the American anthem, to Lieutenant William Arbuckle, a young aviator from Oklahoma, US Navy pilot, who fell on the field of honor to liberate France on August 20, 1944 in Mèze.
