Key players Georgia Khvicha Kvaratskhelia showed a commendable attitude by delaying the celebration to entertain Cristiano Ronaldo at Euro 2024.
The moment occurred after the Georgia vs Portugal match on the last matchday of Group F at the Arena AufSchalke, Gelsenkirchen, Thursday (27/6) early morning WIB. Georgia made a surprise by defeating Portugal 2-0.
Kvaratskhelia scored one of Georgia’s two goals in the win, while Ronaldo struggled to find the net for the first time in the Euro group stage.
The 2-0 victory made Georgia make history. This debutant team made new history by qualifying for the round of 16.
Kvaratskhelia celebrated this historic result. However, the Napoli star chose to first cheer on Ronaldo, a figure he idolizes.
In a video circulating on social media, Kvaratskhelia approached Ronaldo who looked listless on the sidelines. The two then chatted briefly then Kvaratskhelia ran towards his teammates to celebrate the victory.
The 23 year old player was even named the best player in the Georgia vs Portugal match.
Kvaratskhelia uploaded the best player trophy alongside Ronaldo’s jersey on his Instagram account after the match. This further complements Kvaratskhelia’s happiness because he can finally play and exchange jerseys with CR7, Ronaldo’s nickname.
