Germany Shines at U18 Mixed Team European Championship with Bronze Medal Victory

When the German team fights on the mat, you get the feeling that only Germans are cheering in the hall. “The spirit was brilliant,” says Christopher Schwarzer enthusiastically. He is extremely positive about the performance. “You could already tell this morning that the team really wanted to take home the medal. It’s a shame that it wasn’t quite enough against France. But the team fought until the last second.”

“We are very happy with the bronze medal. The team is also super happy, everyone is absolutely thrilled,” he reports enthusiastically. It is the first time since the introduction of the U18 mixed team competitions in 2018 that Germany has won a medal. Before that, only the girls’ team managed to do that in 2017, when they became European champions.

The German athletes come home with four medals. Gold for Charlotte Nettesheim and Maya Toszegi, bronze for Konstantin Distel and now bronze for the team.
