Giving up tens of millions and “pack of chips” deals – insights into Porzingis’ success

The participation of Kristaps Porzingis in the triumph of the Boston “Celtics” team is undoubtedly one of the greatest successes in the history of Latvian sports. In the conditions of huge competition, only a few are lucky enough to get to the strongest club of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the Latvian athlete played an important role in this case. However, history could have been completely different if Porzingis had put aside his sporting ambitions and chosen more money instead of fulfilling his dream.

Less money in a better team

Last summer, Porzingis had to choose between becoming a free agent to consider offers from other teams, or agreeing to a one-year contract extension for a salary of approximately $36 million.
