Atalanta have made the permanent purchase of Ben Godfrey from Everton official. The cost of the operation is around 10 million including bonuses and the defender has signed a five-year contract after having successfully passed the medical examinations today at the La Madonnina clinic in Milan.
Born in York on 15 January 1998, a two-time England international at senior level after 2 games for the Under-20s and 9 for the Under-21s, Godfrey has 12 appearances in League Two, 40 in League One, 36 in the Championship and 112 in the Premier League. Having come through the youth systems of York City and Middlesbrough, he played as a senior at York, twice for Norwich City, at Shrewsbury Town and since October 2020 at Everton, making 93 appearances in all competitions.
