Golden State Warriors Face Tough Decisions on Contracts of Chris Paul and Kevon Looney

There are a lot of decisions the Golden State Warriors have to make this summer. Even in the remainder of June. Before the 24th they must decide what they do with the contracts of Chris Paul and Kevon Looney. The point guard has one year remaining on his contract, but the 30 million he still has to collect are not insured, so they could terminate him ‘for free’.

Looney lives in a similar situation. That he only has 3 of the 8 million of his token guaranteed next year. Most likely, according to Tim Kawakami, writer of The Athletic in San Francisco, it’s that they both end up cut.

Joe Lacob, owner, has already hinted that he is not willing to continue paying large luxury tax rates to have a team that does not compete for the ring. And this would save you a few good dollars. The journalist also points out that, if he became a free agent, Looney would have a large market.
