Good news for Verstappen: ERS failure on old engine – News

L’ERS ferma Max

During the second free practice of the Canadian Grand Prix, the Red Bull of Max Verstappen suffered a technical problem which prevented the Dutch champion from returning to the track.
The team later announced that it was a problema all’ERSnot too worrying given that it was recorded on an old power unit specification and not, therefore, on the new one unmarked for the Canadian stage.

“It’s not a new engine, but the old one“, explained Helmut Marko in the usual dialogue with journalists at the end of the session, confirming that he had found a fault on the electrical part and the need to dismantle the engine and carefully analyze it to understand the actual extent of the technical problem.

A better Red Bull in Canada?

Obviously having lost more than half an hour of FP2 was not ideal for Verstappen, as the driver himself explained at the end of his Friday. However, Red Bull is confident about its competitiveness in Montreal, as confirmed by Marko, who explained that some problems were encountered in the factory which the team has already addressed in terms of set-up, denying that the recent difficulties could be linked to a specific DNA of the car. In any case, there is cautious optimism at Red Bull: “At the moment we seem stronger than in Monte Carlo.”
