Gott und Glück accuses the IPN of owing 180 million pesos for cleaning services – El Sol de México

The Gott und Glück company accused the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) of owing it 180 million pesos for cleaning services.

In a statement, the company said that the amount corresponds to the service provided between March and June of this year.

“The company has paid for the salaries of more than 3,000 workers; however, the IPN has not processed or made any payment of the invoices delivered to the Services Directorate,” he said.

According to the company, this situation has called into question its financial solvency and salary coverage, which led its employees to sue it for employment.

On Tuesday, Gott und Glück workers demonstrated in Mexico City over the company’s non-payments, closing the Interior Circuit, which caused chaos in the capital for more than seven hours. In addition, during the blockade in Azcapotzalco, a truck ran over 6 workers who were demonstrating.

Yesterday, the IPN accused that the company had irregularities with the workers.

“This company failed to pay salaries to the workers, and committed irregularities in terms of benefits, among them, the lack of registration in the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS),” the IPN said in a statement on Tuesday.

The company explained that it began the cleaning service at the IPN facilities on March 20, after a ruling in favor derived from a disagreement over the awarding of a contract to a company that, it said, did not comply with the conditions and elements provided by law.

Gott und Glück has been favored by the current government with contracts for comprehensive cleaning services in several departments. Between 2019 and 2021 alone, it obtained contracts worth 798.1 million pesos from the Secretariats of Public Education (SEP) and Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Migration Institute and the IPN, among others, according to data from Compranet.

In February, businessmen in the cleaning services sector reported irregularities in direct awards in favor of Enrique José Gómez Mandujano, who has been the company’s legal representative since 2012.

“Despite the intervention of the Ministry of Public Administration (SFP) to reconcile the conflict, on June 21, the IPN began a contract termination process with Gott und Glück under the allegation of non-compliance by the company to avoid payment for the work performed, even though the services were not rejected, and as a result of the verification, we have not been notified of any defect, discrepancy or non-compliance, as established in the contract,” the company stated.
