Hakim Ziyech will also play in the shirt of Galatasaray next season, the club announced on Friday evening. The attacking midfielder and winger will be taken over from Chelsea for free. The Turks had a mandatory purchase option.
Galatasaray have exercised and signed the mandatory purchase option in their loan contract with Chelsea, as was announced in May. Ziyech left on loan to Turkey at the end of the summer transfer window, where he was released from his hopeless situation.
The sixty-time Morocco international had a mixed season in Turkey, partly due to injuries, and hopes to change that next year. Galatasaray surprisingly announces Ziyech’s exact salary.
The former Ajax player will earn a net salary of 2,850,000 euros next season. If Ziyech meets certain conditions next season, he will earn the same amount in the 2025/26 season.
Ziyech was struggling with, among other things, a foot, hamstring and ankle injury and has therefore only played 23 games for Galatasaray. He scored eight goals and four assists.
Ziyech had his best years at Ajax, where he won three prizes and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. The playmaker won the national title, the cup and the Johan Cruijff Shield during his time in Amsterdam.
Chelsea paid over 40 million euros to Ajax for Ziyech in the summer of 2020, but he never managed to become an undisputed regular at Stamford Bridge. He did win the Champions League with the Blues, as well as the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
