Hamilton commented on the e-mail that accuses Mercedes of patronizing Russell – F1sport.cz

At the Spanish Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton commented on an email allegedly sent by a Mercedes employee.

Lewis Hamilton, who will leave Mercedes at the end of this year and head to Ferrari, is not enough for his younger teammate George Russell in the current year. So far, he has beaten the seven-time world champion in 8 of the 9 qualifiers he has driven and has also collected more points, including one podium.

In the context of this, fans have begun to speculate on social media whether Hamilton is at a disadvantage compared to Russell at Mercedes due to his planned departure.

Everything has now been amplified by an email in which an alleged Mercedes employee claims that the German team is now prioritizing Russell internally.

When Hamilton was asked by reporters about the email at the Spanish Grand Prix, he replied that he knew nothing about it and instead expressed his support for Russell.

“If you look back, we’ve always been a strong team and we’ve always worked hard together,” said Hamilton, as quoted by Britain’s Mirror.

“I think it’s easy to get emotional, for example in the last race I even said that I was making mistakes. I think we need support, not negativity. Actually, I wasn’t aware that George was experiencing any malice (from the fans, ed. note). George just did his best every weekend and does his best for the team, so you can’t fault him at all,” said the Mercedes driver.

“Of course there are always things that can be improved in the team, which is done through discussions and communication. But we are all in the same boat, we all work hard together and we all want to finish as well as possible. Our long-standing relationships also help us in this,” concluded Hamilton.
