Heavy Rains Disrupt Events in Lachute for June 29 Weekend

The heavy rains forecast for June 29 have disrupted the schedule of the many events scheduled to take place this weekend in Lachute.

First, for a second consecutive year, Auto-Expo Lachute, the vintage car exhibition organized by the Lachutois Knights of Columbus, is cancelled due to the temperature forecast for the day.

This cancellation had repercussions on the Argenteuil en blues festival, which was supposed to have artists perform on a stage set up in the middle of Lachute’s Principale Street, where the car show was supposed to take place. All performances on this stage as well as those that were supposed to be set up on restaurant terraces in downtown Lachute have been cancelled. At the time of writing, the festival organizers were looking into moving these performances inside the Gîte Namasté (133, avenue Béthany, Lachute). The performances scheduled for Saturday evening under the marquee located next to the Gîte will also be moved inside. The marquee will be used to cover the terrace of the venue in order to accommodate spectators who will not be able to enter the building.

As for the festivities surrounding the 5th anniversary of the Sir-John Brewery, these are maintained, with the exception of the musical shows and the skateboard demonstration.

As for the Lachute Provincial Baseball Tournament, organizers are already working on a contingency plan to move games that cannot be played tomorrow due to rain. Among the options being studied, holding the last games for class 9UB on Monday, which is a holiday, is being considered.

Finally, on the Lachute National Soccer Tournament side, all activities are maintained, including the holding of Soccer Night scheduled for the night of June 29 to 30. However, delays could occur in the event of storms.
