Hendra/Ahsan regrets losing after winning at the 2024 Indonesia Open

Jakarta

Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan regretted their defeat at the Indonesia Open 2024. The Daddies even though they had a chance to win after leading the match.

The top 16 of the Indonesia Open 2024 men’s doubles brought Hendra/Ahsan together with the second seed from China, Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang, at Istora GBK, Thursday (6/6) afternoon WIB. The Daddies were actually ahead in the first game 21-17.

But Hendra/Ahsan failed to secure victory in the next two games and lost 20-22, 18-21. The match ended in 57 minutes.

“Yes, it’s a shame that you were leading but lost,” said Hendra Setiawan, starting his comments to reporters.

“When they (Liang/Wang) were behind, they changed their game and maybe they had time to speed up (their playing pattern) when they were behind. Then we died a lot ourselves, especially in easy balls. That’s a shame,” he said.

Hendra also explained Ahsan’s condition, which was not in the best condition. Part of his leg is said to have pulled. Not surprisingly, Ahsan also missed the question and answer session with the media crew.

“Maybe it more or less affects movement too. You have to be able to reach the ball but your feet are already…,” he said.

Even though they lost, Hendra/Ahsan didn’t want to dwell on their failure at the Indonesia Open. Moreover, they have a high target this year, namely improving their ranking and entering the top 10 again.

The 2013, 2015 and 2019 world champion is scheduled to take part in the Australian Open in Sydney, from June 11-16.

“Yesterday the target was to qualify for the Olympics, but because it has already passed, we will spend it until the end of the year. We really want to be in the top 10 again by the end of the year,” said Hendra.
