Dell was injured at a private event in Sanford, Florida, on April 28, where 10 people were injured after shots were fired. Dell suffered a minor injury and has since returned to practicing in Texans organized team activities.

“First of all, I’m blessed, you know. For me, it was just the wrong place at the wrong time,” Dell, who is from Daytona Beach, Florida, said on the podcast. “I saw my mom again, I wasn’t even planning on going to the pool party or whatever, but my friends saw I was home, so they called me and said, ‘Come to the party.’ They told me there would be security, they would check people on the way in, things like that. So I thought, “Okay, cool. There was a lot of people I know there, so it was cool.”

“And then that s**t blew up out of nowhere. It went down out of nowhere.”

Police have released video showing Dell caught in the middle of the altercation as shots were fired. A 16-year-old suspect was charged with attempted murder, discharge of a weapon in a public place, use of a firearm during a felony and unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor.

“…I thought I had gotten away from the situation. “When you see in the video, when I ran over there, I thought I had gotten away from the little situation of the altercation when they were fighting, but I got in the middle of two people and “Everything went crazy.”

Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Dell said his perspective has changed after the shooting.

“It definitely changed my perspective on things,” he said. “Just being around the right group of people and stuff like that or being in the right situations.”

He called the incident “scary.”

“Not just for me, but for my family because I don’t want to put myself in that kind of position. And especially my family, like my little brother, my mom, I know how they felt at that time. “It’s a blessing to be safe, but overall it’s a traumatic experience,” he said.

Stroud said on the podcast that he was attending a playoff game between the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers when he received news from the Texans that Dell had been shot, calling the situation an “eye-opener.”

“All I read was ‘Tank got shot,’ and I dropped my phone. I started crying. “You know, when you hear that, you start thinking the worst,” she said.

He said, “It was a good moment to realize that I can’t go home and do the same things I was doing.”

“Because sometimes I go home, that’s where I feel comfortable, going to pool parties, bowling alleys, skating rinks, house parties, like, these are the people I grew up with, no I’m going to change because I have a little money,” he said. “But for that moment to happen so quickly, it was like an eye-opening experience, not just for Tank but for the rest of the world and athletes around the world.”

Dell’s rookie season ended in early December when he suffered a broken leg in a game against the Denver Broncos. He had 709 receiving yards at the time of his injury and was on pace for 1,205 yards.
