«I’m leaving but actually I’m staying»

Joselu Mato, Real Madrid striker who is currently part of the Spanish team that is playing in the European Championship in Germany, has become this Friday New player for Qatar’s Al-Gharafa SCafter playing last season in the white shirt, in which he won the Spanish league and the Champions League.

“Real Madrid CF, after exercising its option to acquire the rights of the player Joselu Mato against RCD Espanyol, has reached an agreement with Al-Gharafa SC for the transfer of our player,” the club announced in a statement.

This confirms Joselu’s decision to leave the Santiago Bernabéu and accept the million-dollar offer from the Qatari team, given the difficulty of getting minutes next year after the arrival of Brazilian Endrick and Kylian Mbappétwo new pieces for the front.

The Spanish international already had a tough time last season, although he ended up earning minutes and the affection of the fans with goals, such as the two he scored against Bayern Munich at the Bernabéu to qualify his team for the Champions League final at Wembley.

Once his signing was made official, the footballer himself wanted to express his deep gratitude to the club, his teammates and the Real Madrid fans for this successful season.

“Thank you, it is the best and most appropriate word to express everything I feel at this moment, in which emotion and nerves barely allow me to write,” the striker begins his message, which after thanking him concludes: “I left years ago but I never left. Today I’m also leaving but in reality I’m staying».

Joselu arrived at the Real Madrid youth academy in 2010 at the age of 20 and joined Castilla, where he played two seasons and participated in the promotion to the Second Division in the 2011-2012 season. He then went through Celta Vigo, Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hannover, Stoke City, Deportivo de La Coruña, Newcastle, Deportivo Alavés and Espanyol until his return to the Spanish capital last summer.
