Indonesia Open 2024 Quarter Final Recap, Hosts Remaining with One Representative

The following is a recap of the results of the four Red and White representatives who competed in the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Open 2024. Only one managed to advance to the semifinals, namely from the men’s doubles sector.

Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja were the first representatives of the hosts to take part on Friday (7/6) at Istora Gelora Bung Karno. They lost in two straight games with a score of 16-21, 17-21 to Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai (Thailand).

Gregoria Mariska Tunjung suffered the same fate in the women’s singles event. Against Wang Zhi Yi from China, he surrendered straight games with a score of 8-21, 18-21 in about 45 minutes.

Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani finally won the first victory. They held their ticket to the semifinals after winning a three-game duel against Lee Jhe-huei/Yang Po-hsuan with a score of 21-17, 14-21, 21-16. They will next meet Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun.

Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana, who appeared recently, failed to follow in the footsteps of Sabar/Reza after losing 16-21, 21-15, 21-23 to Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in a duel that drained their emotions and energy.
