Indonesian Badminton Team Prepares for 2024 Paris Olympics with Early Departure

JAKARTA – The badminton sports team (cabor) will leave early on July 13, 2024 to prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

PBSI Head of Development and Achievement Ricky Soebrdja said the badminton team would fly there as per schedule if there were no changes.

“We’re leaving early. (the plan is) that there is a training camp there, in Chambly. If there is no change, we leave on the 13th (July 2024). So, there are about 10 days to go to the site, the athletes’ village,” he said.

Chambly is about 40 kilometers north of Paris. The town is a community in the Oise department that is expected to be the training camp (TC) of the Indonesian badminton team ahead of the biggest multi-event in four years.

In fact, for several years, some cities have offered to become PBSI training camp locations. However, Chambly is considered the best fit for the team’s priority needs.

At the end of February 2024, Indonesian badminton athletes had already set foot in this place. At that point, they had three days for a training center hosting the 2024 French Open tournament.

Ricky explained that leaving for Paris earlier will certainly provide more opportunities for athletes to adapt due to the quite far apart weather differences in Asia and Europe.

“The goal, the air is different in July. Unlike February and March. So we adapted earlier. I hope this adaptation can be used correctly,” he said.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. In total, more than 10,000 athletes from 206 delegates became competitors in the world’s most popular sporting event.

The 2024 Paris Badminton Olympics will be held at Porte De La Chapelle Arena, Paris, France from July 28 to August 5, 2024. Indonesia sent six representatives from five sectors.

Ces représentants sont Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari et Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

The six deputies are currently focusing on their preparation at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center (Pelatnas), East Jakarta, after not all of them will participate in the 2024 Australian Open which is underway this week.
