The Indonesian Men’s National Team managed to advance to the semifinals of the 2024 ASEAN School Games after beating Thailand with a score of 83-66, Monday 3 June 2024.
The defeat against the Philippines the previous day allowed Cliffton Wijaya et al to improve themselves and appear more solid against Thailand. Evidently, Indonesia managed to keep its distance from Thailand from the start of the match.
However, Cliffton, as the team captain, was not satisfied with his performance on the field. His mistake in the match against Thailand made this 17 year old player feel he needed to evaluate himself well to face the semi-finals later.

“We made it to the semi-finals. Even though I didn’t play optimally because of my own mistakes. The hope is that in the next game I can contribute more and bring home a medal,” he said.
On the other hand, Jeremy Abner, a bench player, said he was happy to be able to bring the Indonesian Men’s National Team to the semi-finals. Moreover, he learned many lessons from his experience defending Indonesia’s name in the international arena.
Regarding the team’s performance, this player from UPH College also admitted that the Indonesian men’s team was much more solid than in previous matches. “It went very well, Sis. Overall, chemistry “We as a team are getting better and more comfortable,” he said.

“Facing the semi-finals tomorrow, I am honestly quite confident about my team and myself. For myself, what I have received is the experience of representing Indonesia,” he added.
The victory over Thailand made Indonesia the runner up in Group A. They will face the winner of Group B, namely Singapore, in the semifinal match, Wednesday 5 June 2024.
