Indonesian U16 National Team Secures Spot in AFF U16 Cup 2024 Semifinals

KOMPAS.com – Indonesian U16 National Team will certainly play in the semifinals of the ASEAN Cup or AFF U16 Cup 2024.

AFF Cup semifinal schedule U16 2024 will take place on Monday (1/7/2024).

This certainty was obtained by the Indonesian national team after defeating Laos in matchday third Group A.

Garuda Asia managed to achieve a landslide 6-1 victory over Laos on Thursday (27/6/2024), at Manahan Stadium, Surakarta, Central Java.

Nova Arianto’s team managed to come back from behind after being penetrated first by Phayak Siphanom in the 7th minute.

Indonesia replied through goals from Zahaby Gholy (24′), Josh Holong (37.61′), Panji Apriawan (45+3′), Mierza Firjatullah (79′), and an own goal from Sayyavath Vansavath (30′).

The victory over Laos also ensured that Indonesia emerged as the winner of Group A with a perfect score.

Indonesia collected three wins with nine points and conceded only once.

Of the three matches that have been completed, Indonesia was able to achieve a 3-0 victory over Singapore, 3-0 against the Philippines, and 6-1 against Laos.

Mierza is one of the top scorers with four goals. He has the same goal record as Thai player, Jompon Homboonma.

Playing in the semifinals, Indonesia will face the winner of Group C or runner-up Group B.

Indonesia has the potential to face Thailand or Australia who will emerge as winners of Group C.

The AFF U16 Cup semifinal matches will be held at Manahan Stadium, on Monday (1/7/2024).
