Injured ribs, Tao Geoghegan Hart will not compete in the Tour de France with Lidl-Trek

Tao Geoghegan Hart’s first season in the Lidl-Trek jersey will not include a stopover at the Tour de France. In a press release published Friday, the American team announced the withdrawal of the climber (29 years old) eight days before the big departure planned in Florence (June 29-July 21). “TGH” was caught in the massive fall during the 5th stage of the Dauphiné on June 6. Victim of a broken rib, he started the next day but fell from 9th to 58th place overall before abandoning the following day.

“The Briton must be sidelined longer than expected,” confirmed Lidl-Trek, which has not yet revealed its lineup for the Tour. Former winner of the Giro (2020), Geoghegan Hart had competed in four stage races before the Dauphiné this season: the Tour of the Algarve (12th), Tirreno-Adriatico (29th), the Tour of the Basque Country (43rd) and the Tour du Romandie, finished in 9th place.
