Last weekend, teams from all over France, but also from England and Spain competed on the basketball courts for two intense days.
It was in the Foulayronnes gymnasium that the international women’s basketball tournament began on Saturday morning. Around a breakfast generously prepared by the volunteers, the participants were able to start this weekend peacefully. During these two days, the U13 and U15 women’s teams met on the courts.
A tournament anchored in history
For several years, this tournament organized by the CTC de l’Élan du Séguran has enjoyed growing success and has become the essential event for international women’s basketball. Each year, more and more teams from all over the world respond positively, in the hope of winning the tournament title in their respective category.
Winners by category
Among the highlights of the weekend were the lively evening organized on Saturday evening and the final phases which took place on Sunday. As for the U13 teams, it was the ABCLLA-Le Passage d’Agen team which won against the Spanish team from Arenys de Mar (32-20). Concerning the U15 teams, the victory goes to the Saint-Chamond team, like last year, which retains the title of champion of the tournament against the solid Sheffield team, straight from England. It was a meeting of great beauty and tension, because the Saint-Chamond team won by only two points (35-33). As every year, the awards ceremony took place in an excellent atmosphere in the presence of representatives of the municipalities of Foulayronnes and Pont-du-Casse. This tournament was a great success thanks to the good organization of the CTC clubs, but also thanks to the will and invaluable help of the volunteers present over these two days.
