IOC invites four Russian judokas, but none will take part in the Games

Yesterday, Friday 28 June, the International Olympic Committee has granted permission to six other Russian athletes and two Belarusians take part in the 2024 Paris OlympicsThis is an increase in the first list, released on June 15 and then updated two days ago, Thursday 27.

The sports in question are canoeing and judo. In the first case the invitations were extended to two Russians and two Belarusians; four Russians are eligible instead for the discipline of combat, that is Dali Liluashvili, Elis Startseva, Makhmadbek Makhmadbekov and Valery Endovitskyi.

Despite this, the Russian Judo Federation has already decided unanimously not to send any representatives to Paris. A sign of evident protest towards the mode of operation of the IOC, considered degrading and unsporting.

Currently, only twenty of the forty-seven athletes deemed suitable have confirmed their presence, while the others have not yet communicated their choice, as in the case of tennis players Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev. We remind you that to take part in the five-ring event, the athletes under consideration must meet certain requirements including demonstrating political impartiality, therefore not supporting the invasion of Ukraine and not belonging to military bodies.
