tvOnenews.com – The Iraqi coach, Jesus Casas, was worried even though his team managed to advance to the third round and beat the Indonesian national team in the fifth match of Group F in the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asia Zone.

In the match which took place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (6/6/2024), Iraq won with a score of 2-0.

Iraq’s two winning goals were scored by Aymen Hussein in the 54th minute via a penalty kick and Ali Jasim in the 88th minute.

After the match, coach Jesus Casas stated that the third round would be a bigger and more difficult challenge.

He is wary of strong teams who might be their opponents in the third round, such as Japan, South Korea and Iran.

“The next round will certainly be very, very difficult because we have to face teams like Japan, South Korea and Iran,” said Jesus Casas.

Even so, the Spanish coach remains optimistic about Iraq’s chances of appearing in the 2026 World Cup.
