The situation of Real Betis Basketball It is a cause of concern within the green and white entity and an issue yet to be resolved. After the failed sale of the section’s shares to the Mexican conglomerate Xoy, Benito Villamarín is looking for an alternative formula so that basketball, which has a guaranteed place in the renewed LEB Oro next season, is a viable and economically sustainable project. On this topic, the news is that “there is nothing new”, in the words of the Betic vice president José Miguel López Catalán in the presentation of Romain Perraud as a new green and white player.

Therefore, work continues on it. «It is a complex issue and we are really not happy with it. We have conversations with administrations to see the support they provide and also with possible partners who offer to share the project or provide a solution. We don’t have it yet and we are working on several scenarios,” the Betic leader said in this regard.

Groups, businessmen and even international clubs have been interested in the basketball team in recent weeks, asking Betis about the numbers presented by the section, without anything being finalized to date, as commented by López Catalán. There are some local businessmen who have the support of basketball people in the city and have offered and counter-offered to take over the team, recovering the identity of the club from before the change of stage eight years ago.

At Betis, the priority idea is to stay with basketball, leading the project, but with the sine qua non condition that it be with the support of the institutions. They do not want a new Xoy case to be repeated in Heliopolis. Betis considers that it has invested a lot of money in the team’s years in the ACB and that, contrary to what was expected, the administrations did not keep the word given in 2016, when the green and white entity took the step forward with the then CB Sevilla on the brink of liquidation.
