Italian Judoka Thomas Sassi Shines at 2024 Cadet European Championships

The first day of the 2024 Cadet European Judo Championship took place on 27 June, which is taking place this year in Bulgaria, with 44 nations participating with 512 athletes. Thomas Sassi cat. 55 kg of Judo Shiai Piacenza, called up for the occasion by the Italian youth national team, placed fifth, making him the best Italian of the day. Thomas who, despite the defeat at the start of the match against the Russian Magomed Abdulaev (AIN) also due to an unfairness suffered which was not recognized by the referee, climbed back into the recovery table with victories over the Serbian Aleksa Milosevic, the French Ethan Solana and the Armenian Hayk Darbinyan, before giving in to Wazari in the final for third place with Slovenian Gal Blazic. The third-fifth place final was totally dominated by Thomas but, also due to tiredness, he committed a distraction which nevertheless allowed him to obtain a very important prestigious result also useful for the next call-ups to the World Championships. Once again, great sacrifices have led to great results, and Thomas is a witness to this.
