Italian team Pramac signs seven-year deal with Yamaha

After 19 years of an association which notably led Jorge Martin almost to the top of the Championship, Pramac and Ducati will part ways at the end of the season. The Italian team has decided to commit to Yamaha for the next seven seasons, said its boss, Paolo Campinoti.

“Yamaha convinced me with their project,” he explained. “They are a great manufacturer that has won a lot, and they won their last title only three years ago with Quartararo. It won’t be immediate, but they will come back and win, because they always have.”

“We will provide them with factory bikes of the same specification as those used by the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team”

Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing

“We are now entering the next phase of our plan,” explained Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing. A phase that we have been looking forward to for a long time: the arrival of a second Yamaha team. The new partnership with Prima Pramac Racing will take a different form than we have used in the past. Rather than a satellite team, with this new agreement, Yamaha has placed its trust in Pramac Racing, and we will supply them with factory motorcycles of the same specification as used by the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team. The objectives are to accelerate the development of the bike, which remains our priority to return to victory, as well as to have four riders in the MotoGP Championship within the two teams. »

On the riders’ side, Jorge Martin has already signed with Aprilia, and Franco Morbidelli will probably not stay with the Japanese manufacturer, whose official team he left a few months ago.
