The second day of competitions of the European Para-Archery Cup concluded in Nove Mesto, in the Czech Republic. The first arrows of the day were those of the blue teams and none managed to reach the semi-finals, interrupting, all in the quarter-finals, the race towards the medals. In the afternoon the individual challenges were played: for Italy only Enza Petrilli in the Olimpico and the Italians from W1 Asia Pellizzari and Daila Dameno remain in the running.
Tomorrow morning the individual challenges up to the semi-finals and in the afternoon the mixed team preliminaries. The finals on Friday and Saturday morning will be broadcast on the World Archery Europe YouTube channel, while the individual gold finals on Saturday afternoon will be live streamed on Archery+.
TEAM RESULTS – In the men’s Olympic doubles Davide Bettoni and Stefano Travisani first they beat Slovenia 6-2 then they surrender to Indonesia (Kholidin, Setiawan) in the shoot-off 5-4 (18-16). Unlucky playoff also for the women’s pair Veronica Floreno-Vincenza Petrilli who loses against the United States (Caesar, Sternfeld) 5-4 (14*-14).
In the compound they go out against Iran (Manshaezadeh, Nori) Matteo Bonacina and Christian Seneca beaten 151-149 while China (Lin, Zhou) excludes the pair from the race Eleonora Sarti-Maria Andrea Virgilio allo shoot off 14-8-148 (19-19*).
INDIVIDUAL ELIMINATORS – At the end of the individual preliminaries the Azzurri of the Olympic arch all exit in the round of 32: Stefano Travisani overcome by Ivan (SVK) 3-7, Alessandro Round from Arab Ameri (Iri) 0-6 and Davide Bettoni da Tseng (Tpe) 4-6. Tra le donne Enza Petrilli and Veronica Floreno they pass the first round, beating Abdullayeva (Aze) 6-0 and Sternfeld (USA) 6-2 respectively, then Floreno is eliminated in the round of 16 by Poimenidou (Gre), winning 7-3, while Petrilli he gets the better of Kliem 6-0 and tomorrow morning in the quarterfinals he will face Peruvian Campos Marzano.
In the men’s compound Matteo Bonacina the blue derby wins in the round of 32 with Christian Seneca 140-137, but the world champion is then eliminated in the next round by Wu (Tpe) 141-142. Among the women Giulia Pesci first she overcomes Zuniga (Chi) 136-132, then is stopped in the round of 16 by Choi (Kor) 131-143. The other blues instead exit in the first round: Irene Little birds-Markitantova (Pol) 136-142, Eleonora Tailors-Rigault Chupin (Fra) 138-139 and Maria Andrea Virgilio-Gogel (Good) 136-138.
In W1 Paolo Tuna and Maurizio Panella they exit the scene in the round of 16, overcome respectively by Saych (Gbr) 124-126 and Park (Kor) 127-133. In the women’s competition, tomorrow morning, we start from the quarter-finals: Asia Pellizzari he will face Chen (Chn) and Daila Dameno con Kingstone (Gbr).
PLAN – Tomorrow, Thursday 27 June, in the morning all the individual challenges from the quarterfinals to the semi-finals will be played and in the afternoon there will be room for the mixed team challenges, also in this case up to the semi-finals. In the Olympic Travisani-Floreno they will challenge Slovenia in the round of 16 and in the compound Bonacina-Virgil with Brazil. In W1 Dameno and Tonon they start from the quarterfinals against Great Britain.
